The traditional definition of “wealth” is transactional. According to Wikipedia, wealth is “the abundance of valuable financial assets or physical possessions which can be converted into a form that can be used for transactions.”
However, from a holistic perspective, wealth is not transactional, or even monetary. Holistic wealth is an abundance of health, safe and loving relationships, and freedom to choose what we do with our time.
Roger James Hamilton, a holistic futurist, social entrepreneur, and the author of the best-selling book “The Millionaire Master Plan”, defines wealth as “... what you’re left with when you lose all of your money.”
Think about it. If we were to take a room full of random people and give each a million dollars, only a few would become holistically wealthy. Many would have lost the money within six months, and most would have lost it within two years. After two years, only a few would have what they holistically value most.
Why is it that so many people who inherit a fortune or win the lottery end up less wealthy than when they started? In a similar vein, why do so many of us work so hard, earn so much, and still have so little to show for it?
There is a peculiar paradox that many people experience when they make more money. This paradox ensures that being ‘rich’ in money without having built wealth remains a terribly temporary condition. We call this the Wealth Paradox:
The more money you have, the more opportunities you have to lose it.
The Wealth Paradox separates the temporary nature of money with the more enduring nature of wealth and it is another reason why we cannot simply equate wealth to money.
What’s the Best Way to Be Holistically Wealthy?
Have you noticed how many different ways people say are the RIGHT way to create wealth? Making sense of these can be compared to making sense of the different games on ESPN. Each has different rules, different teams, and different strategies.
Only by understanding the different games, can we listen to the soccer player say “Kick the ball, don’t pick it up” and the basketball player say “Don’t kick the ball, pick it up” and realize they aren’t contradicting each other, they’re just playing different games.
Success comes from knowing which game to play, and then playing that game and only that game.
Everyone is born a genius, but if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid. ~ Roger James Hamilton
Each of us has a game that is most suited to our natural energetic blueprint, habits, and talents. Do you know what your best game is?
Find your flow, reclaim your time
When you understand your energetic profile, you can focus on what you do best and love most and you can know what to say no to. When you do this, your personal fulfillment and effectiveness goes up; your stress, friction, struggle, and overwhelm go down, and life becomes a joy. Some people call this flow.
Clarify your natural path
Your profile is your natural path to follow and which game to play. By knowing your natural path, you can know what role models to follow, what advice to take, and what advice to ignore.
Achieve your true potential
How much do you believe you are currently achieving your true potential? Most of us are only achieving a fraction of what we are capable of.
How Can We Optimize Our Experience of Flow?
So, how can we know what path to follow to optimize our flow? The way that’s helped me the most has also helped my team at New Directions for Nurses, and more than 1.9 million entrepreneurs globally. That path starts with taking the free Genius Profile test.
Taking this free test opens the door to learning about something called the Wealth Spectrum, which helps us leverage our personal experience, skills, and gifts to stabilize and support our own life and the lives of the people we care about, and to make a difference in the world.
If you are a nurse entrepreneur, then understanding both your personal genius and where you are on the Wealth Spectrum are critical to knowing the next step you need to take.
When Roger James Hamilton wrote “The Millionaire Master Plan”, he created a guide to financial success that provides us with the Genius Profile test and a personalized plan based on where we are and where we want to go. Roger offers a free “microdegree” on this master plan on his website, GeniusU.com. In this microdegree, you will learn which of the nine levels of the Wealth Spectrum you are currently at and what to do to move forward. Take the free microdegree by clicking here.
